| Incision begins within the natural crease of the eye's inside corner and extends slightly beyond the outside corner into the crow's feet. Through this incision, excess skin and fatty tissue are removed. The incision line follows the natural contour of the upper eyelid, and is camouflaged when healed. |

The incision is concealed just below the lower lashes. Through this incision, excess skin, muscles and fat are removed. Fat beneath the eye can be redistributed to eliminate puffiness or bulges. In some patients, the underlying muscle will be tightened.
In the second type of technique, the incision is put inside the eyelid and there will not be any incision on the skin. However, in this technique, excess skin of the eyelid cannot be removed. Laser resurfacing or chemical peel is sometimes used in conjunction with these procedures to minimise fine wrinkles near the eyes.

The anesthetic and pain medicines tend to produce constipation, so it is advisable to eat high-fiber foods and/or take stool softeners during recovery. Start with liquids, and advance to a normal diet when you are sure your stomach is comfortable. Try to maintain a low-salt diet to discourage water retention.
- Refrain from watching TV or reading for the first 24-48 hours after surgery.
- The following information will help during the first 24-48 hours after surgery to minimise swelling. Place ice in zip lock bag and place over eyelids with a washcloth between them. Apply for 15-30 minutes on and 30 minutes off. The frozen peas help to conform around the eyes. Another alternative is to saturate several 4 X 4 gauze in ice water until they are dripping wet. Fold the sponges in half and apply to each eye. Place an ice cube on top of each sponge and allow the ice to melt. This will keep the eyelids cool and wet, and the suture line (stitches) clean
- This surgery is usually an outpatient procedure. You can be discharged after a few hours of surgery or after 24 hours.
- Always use pillows to keep head elevated when sleeping or resting
- You may have blurred vision due to ointment, or discomfort which can be controlled by medication
- Bend little and do not put head down, which can lead to bleeding in the eyelid.
Few weeks after surgery:
